Need your input:
I have a couple of kids that want to see a game this summer at Comerica. looking online, it appears that there is a kids "run the bags" thing on Sunday, August 16th game.
they're only 5 & 7, so I don't think I need to get the best seats out there - they're more jacked up about being able to be squirrelly on the field!
the other issue is that to me, watching baseball is akin to watching paint dry - beyond boring, but I'll take one for the team so that they can enjoy their experience. (sorry, just being honest!)
so.... where should I look at getting them tickets cheaply, but that they'll still get a good, comerica experience? bleachers? where to guys?
thanks!

thanks!First make sure that there are still tickets available. Most of those types of promo's sell out tickets way in advance. Other than that, I doubt there's a bad seat anywhere in the park for kids at that age really.

Agreed, but sections 221 - 333 are nice seats for what you are looking for, and not too expensive. I just checked and was able to get four tickets for that game so you should be able to get seats. They were the $22 seats.
We are going to the game on the 9th for the run the bases thing. My understanding is that any kid can run the bases and that it is AFTER the game. I hope I am correct on that.

We took our kids down to a Sunday game a few years ago [when they were younger] and all the kids that were in line got to run the bases. The parents get to go on the field with them but only kids run after the game. As far as tickets you should get them at a very reasonable price. Go to http://DetroitTigers.com. Every Sunday is "Kids run the bases" day. Actually every Sunday is "Kids Day" and they give away bikes to a few kids, hand out posters to every kid through the gates and do other kid oriented things. Every Friday night game is followed by fireworks as well if that is something that your kids would be interested in.
As for seats that are affordable but still good viewing, the right field bleachers are good. We actually have our season tickets over there and enjoy it quite a bit. Good view of the field, the kids can go down to the wall between innings and try to catch a ball from Mags or whoever is playing right field, and the bleacher seats give you a little more room to spread out than the actual seats do.

Every seat is a bad seat for kids that age...
If wanna make it as miserable as possible Branta, just make sure they're in the BLARING August sun for 7 outta the 9 innings..:(
I've taken my daughter for a few games,, I honestly don't know how she does it, she'll sit there like trooper for the whole game.

After sitting in the bleachers as high up and as far away as possible in Comerica, I vowed I wouldn't go to another game if I had to sit up there. I'd rather watch on tv. I take my dad to a game every year and get my tickets from that website and get tickets close enough to make it worth the drive.
I know you don't like baseball much, but I think it would be more fun for you and your kids to have relatively decent seats. Nothing like being down in it, being able to see in the dugouts, etc. Plus the seating is more comfortable.
Just my 2 cents.
Edit: As William H Bonney indicates, take the sun into account if possible. A game is more enjoyable if you sit where you know the sun won't be beating the whole time.

silly me, I didn't even think of the start time and being out in the bleachers.
definitely something to consider.
(that, and me scoring one of those 2-beer hat thingies to make this tolerable!)
believe me, I'm using this lil outting to my advantage come duck season!
