Hey fellas,
Just wondering if there is a decent section of the Rifle that can be floated with a drift boat. We just finished our boat (my girl and I) and we are looking for another place to float down and do a little fishing. We floated the Big Man last weekend and had a blast. I personally have a thing for the East side and would like to find some areas to use it over here.

PM's are cool if anyone has some start points... not looking for the prime spots - willing to put in my time, just need a jump off reference/general info.

Thanks!
Jason

Most of the Rifle is pretty shallow, and might not be real friendly to the bottom of a wooden drift boat, if that is what you built. I realize that you probably glassed it. The river is a favorite for canoe trips, because you can easily stand up in most places. When it is running low, in summer, you have to get out and portage canoes across shallow places quite often. But there are Browns to be found, if you know what you are looking for.

Jason, as mentioned above. I really would not bring a drift boat down the Rifle. I was up there a few weeks ago and the water was low. They did get rain over that way recently but the river in general is shallow. You would be better off hitting the Au Sable just north of the Rifle.
