I want to build an elevated hunting blind that will hold 2 people and can be used for archery and gun hunting. This will require larger openings for shooting. I am considering building this in my back yard then dis-assemble and take it to the woods to re-assemble. Does anyone have any pictures , plans or thoughts I can use to incorporate into our design? Thanks.

Go to www.deerhuntingblinds.com (http://www.deerhuntingblinds.com) or google Productive Cedar Products and look at their combo rifle/bow blind for how they handle the window problem.

Do a search in the Deer Hunting forums. There have been numerous threads about this subject along with plans and pix.........

you might want to try something like this.... i am also currently doing a work in progress and came up with these "shoot through windows" just like a pop up blind all it took was screen frame and very thin camo mesh. they are removable and also have hinged plexy glass to block wind but most of all you can see out but nothingcan see in!!!!!!

Personally I hate screwing up a good gun blind in order to shoot a bow out of it and I hate bow hunting in a box even more....BUT, since this isn't about me I'll tell you what I've been it that seems to work the best despite my archery preference.

Window openings that form a cross. Two on the front and one on each side. The size of these crosses should be determined by the area you hunt and provide enough view to place your anticipated shot. You also need to factor in the extra arm room for the draw of a bow, clearance for bow height and have enough room in the blind for a nocked arrow..I prefer to have an arrow knocked while sitting.

My elevated blind has a deck above the actual roof for bow hunting. There's an element of bowhunting that I don't find when gun hunting. I like to feel the wind, hear the noises and BE part of the woods. With a gun...not so much.

Well beings I am not built for trees unless it was a giant red wood maybe I bought a couple of the cedar blinds at the shows in Imlay City and put one 15 ft up on a movable stand the other out in the woods .
I just gun hunt I tried to do the William Tell thing but I am more like Willie Smell I couldn't hit nothing but  my forearm .
The only issue with the blinds are the way they make their sliders fill up and if you break one you have to disassemble the side to get the new window in ( I am not sure but racoons or a huge fox squirrel busted the windows they left fur an a mess in the sheds )
