December Elk Hunt

I drew an either sex elk tag for the December area "A" hunt. (after applying since day one) Just wondering if anyone has hunted area A and has any tips. I did hook up with one of the frequently mentioned guides on this site. Wondering how the elk heard is in area A, and what quantity and quality of animals might be expected. Any information would be helpful. Thanks.

You drew the most desired area.Area A is one of the top areas for the Dec hunt.Lots of Elk in this area. Good Luck, you need some tips pm me.

Which guide did you hook up with?? Canada creek you need to use their members as guides and you make a donation to their lodge. They were 100 percent last year i heard.

Preston Casselman is the guide that I hooked up with. Seems like a good guy in talking to him on the phone. I am not real familiar with that area and just wondering what to expect in terms of the elk population in area A. Are there still some nice bulls, or have they been shot up pretty bad in recent years. I will get up and do some scouting this fall, but just trying to get some general info on what might be considered a nice bull in that area.
