Does anyone know the reason for the spike in Michigan license sales between 1991 and 1994? The spike looks unnatural.

One reason may be because at that time 4 buck tags could be purchased---and that was when the peak deer population occurred?

That is likely to be part of the reason. Not unusual then for a guy to buy 2 buck licenses for bow hunting and 2 buck licenses for gun hunting and get zero or 1 buck total. Also, if I remember correctly, it seems like that there were a LOT more bow hunters around that time. After some years with no success or losing deer with their bows, a lot of hunters gave up bow hunting and went back to gun hunting only. Also, some gave up bow hunting because of near accidents or some fear of tree climbing. Hope a bunch of then give crossbow hunting a try this fall.
