I thought I'd give the walleye a try last night between Brandenburg and Goulette Point. I fished from 8 - 12 feet of water trolling harnesses and stopped to jig heavy weed beds. Not a single walleye!
Anyone hear of any walleye between New Baltimore and Salt River?
There are a lot of bass in those areas (smaller than last year for some reason), and I even pulled in three muskie while bass fishing last Monday - but no eyes?

Have you been casting at night yet? Oh, the good old days.

Ah yes, the elusive LSC Walleye. I fished last Wednesday and Thursday in the middle area of the main lake. Wednesday I picked up one on cranks and spoons along with numerous Smallies and lost 4 baits to Muskie. Thursday I did manage a limit on crawlers but I started at 7:30 and boated the last one a 1 o’clock. Took 2 hours to get that last one. It's tough out there right now for sure!

Phil - I have been out three or four times hitting up all the old spots and all I have taken at night were some lunker bass. It just seems like the walleye do not make their way to this side of the Bay much any more.

Gone Fishing - were you any where near the New Baltimore to Salt River area?

No, pretty much middle of the main lake.

used to get them back in the day casting cranks...seems like since the zebra mussels moved in they dont hang out in that part of the lake much.

My neighbor picked up one walleye off Salt River while bass fishing with shinners. I believe that walleye must of been lost!

Ok, maybe I will keep trying.
There were 3 or 4 boats trolling for walleye in between Goulette Point and Salt River last night.

Had plans to fish Algonac @ 0500 but got called in to work. Decided to take bro-in-law out for a while and launched at B-burg @ 12:30. Picked up a few sheeps and other throw-backs but was surprised to land a nice walleye (23") and lost another at the boat. Both on harnesses. BTW..I was a little leary of launching there but water levels were ok for me(18'deep-v). Wouldn't want to try anything much bigger though.
