Go back thru old threads on this forum.Alot of good info to get you started. The best advice I can offer is,when it comes to calling LESS is better,scouting/knowing your hunting area's helps ALOT,wind direction (while getting to/and calling from your stand)is even more important than while deer hunting, and don't give-up!!!;)

welcome to the site. I'm assuming you know all the basic rules? Like you have to have a call, and no centerfires, slugs, or buckshot at night. If you night hunt.

Honestly, no not really. i've been looking here and on the state dnr website for all the rules/regs but i dont know all the rules.
where's what i think i know. i have two calls, full camo like for turkey hunting, and a .243 rifle, and i've watched a few dozen videos about yote hunting.. and i'm going to try and mimic what i saw there and follow what rules i know from the dnr site ...

243 will work during the day. Lets get this settled. Will you day hunt, night hunt, or both?
Someone please help me out. Do you need a furbearers tag to keep the fur?

I am only going to be hunting during daylight regulation hunting hours from sunrise to sunset.
i dont plan on keeping any part of the animal at this time.
i do have centerfire, rimfire and shot/slug guns that can work, if need be to take a yote

Coyote may be hunted with small game licence.GMac,if not hunting for ADC, wait till late fall/winter when the furs are prime. Not hard to skin with a little practice, make a little money off the fur or for around $20 you have a nice fur for the wall ;)

Don't forget your hunters orange. I don't believe that has changed, but I know they are trying.

Hunters orange has to be worn Aug 15 to April 30th.

Coyote may be hunted with small game licence.
And you can still take the fur?

Actually pg 28 of the 2009 hunting guide states that hunter orange does not have to be worn if you are stationary and in the act of hunting bobcat, coyote or fox. Except during the firearm deer season.

Post was made before the rule change.

here are a few pointers.....They are very active year round, but much easier to hunt in the winter because you can see them easier & food is scarce for them at that time so they are on the move more. Make sure your hunt in cover, they can spot you in the open a mile away. ALWAYS use a cover scent, they will circle down wind of you 99% of the time. Try your hand at mouth calls, electronic calls work very well but you should get to know how to use both. You don't need a $600 Foxpro call, you can get the same results with an MP3 player & an external speaker. There are countless call sounds you can download for free. Keep in mind that when you use a mouth call or have the speaker on an electronic call close to you, the coyote will be coming straight at you when they come in.
PM me if you want more, I can go on & on with this subject.
