For those of you that roll your own, what are you shooting? I've been shooting 1 1/8 oz of #8 over about 18 grains of 700X with a WAA12 wad or versalite wad & Fed 209A primer in a AA hull. These certainly get the job done, I'm just curious what anyone else is using. I have some STS/Nitro hulls and some old RP Blue Magic & RXP hulls that I'd like to use up. I've loaded the RXPs with the AA & 700X before but I'm always looking to try something different.

For what it's worth, I went to 1 oz loads yrs ago and have seen no difference in my scores whatsoever. I usually get Promo when it's on sale. About $75 for an 8 lb jug and it last a good long time. With the economy like it is, I'm always looking for ways to save some money. Hope that helps. Grade6man

I used to shoot SC an awful lot on a fun/casual basis. Went from 1 1/8 oz. to 1 oz. (strictly 12 ga.) and never noticed a change in my scores. Same can said when I went down to 7/8 oz. but every time I'd miss a bird... I blamed it on the smaller load and after a while went back to 1 oz. especially as the price of lead was dropping. Made me feel more confident. Shoot mostly skeet now 12 ga. 1 oz. about 1225 f.p.s. but am going to roll some 7/8 oz. loads and give them a try. Am a big fan of Promo powder, although I've never seen it at $75.00. The last 8lb. keg I bought was around $86.00. Clean burning, inexpensive, meters well etc. Great stuff as far as I'm concerned BUT I did have an unusual problem with the first keg I bought last year. If your curious and a Promo fan PM me. Explanation is a bit laborious for this post.
