The last time I went whipping on the river we fished for 6 hours and landed 1 walleye. The older gentleman 20 feet away from us landed 6 in the same time frame. We had the exact same presentation, plugs, and repelas. Near the end of the night he let me in on his secret. He was applying Berkley Powerbait bass attractant to his plugs and rapelas.

Anyone else have similar results? What kind of attractant did you use?

I think whenever the bite is slow I'd put on some attractant spray. I've used several different kinds in the past with good results. As for the WD-40 I wouldn't recommend it just because of it's effects on the environment. Just think if everyone sprayed that stuff on their lures and put it in our lakes and streams. Not a good idea!

Oh boy this could get ugly.

No point in rehashing it again here. Just do a search for WD40 and you'll find LOTS of talk about it here.

Do you have this response saved somewhere so you don't have to type it out every time WD-40 comes up? ;)

There is no fish oil in WD-40. Do a search here and on snopes.com.

Exactly its made from petrolium distiliates which is not even close to fish oil.

Why hell years ago when I was going to the bar I used to use WD40 as after-shave. I mean that stuff worked because at 2AM I was well lit up and the girls still left standing flocked to me like a dog to a bone. They were all beautiful. Don't know where they came from because when I got to the bar earlier in the night there were nothing but dogs in there........had to be the WD40 that brought the beauties to me........:evilsmile :dizzy:

Years and years ago WD40 actually did use a small amount of fish-oil but that was dropped for petroleum products........ages ago.....

I can't begin to tell you how many times I've seen one side of the boat catching fish and not the other. Same for boats anchored side by side. If your not in the right water depth your not going to do as well, even if your set up exactly with the same lures and all. More than likely the fish attractant wasn't the reason he was catching fish and you weren't. I've managed to catch a few fish over the years without using attractants. It's just one more thing too needlessly spend money on.

I will stick with my anise and petroleum jelly. My opinion it works well casting twisters
