i was just wondering if any of you guys do any shooting on the holloway reservoir. we were out there last week fishing and all we saw were carp. it sure makes me want to set a rig up. we got the pontoon. it would give me something fun to do when we cant run the beagle.

never heard of it. where is this place? About how many carp did you see? During the day or night?

it is sort of between flint and lapeer. oh man there are tons of carp. we were out on the pontoon in the deeper water during the day and were seeing schools of them just cruising around. there are a couple bridges that our pontoon cant fit under but a flat bottom could easily. that way you could get up into the shallows and marshes where the flint river comes in at. i would think that would be better than the deeper water.

I have never bowfished holloway but the shallows up near columbiville launch and zimmer park probably holds them. My guess is they are there because I bowfish mott occasionally when they are spawning...

yeah jr up past columbiaville in the flats would be my pick for the best spots. we got on the water at about 7:30 and saw hundreds of carp and that was just between stanley rd and mount morris where the water is deeper. i just wish i still had my 16 foot boot to fit under the bridges. there is some catfishing there too.

Are you not able to get under the Mt morris bridge? You could always lauch at columbiaville... its a free launch. Well I take that back.... how big of a boat are you pulling?

jr, we have a 22 foot plush pontoon that sits just too high. and it is too big too launch in columbiaville. the launch in town is not really a launch more of a local swimming hole people started using as a launch. i used to have a 16 foot smokercraft that i took under all the bridges.
esox, that is no joke
silverman, you want to come over this way let me know i am 2 minutes from columbiaville. i dont have a bow to do any shoting but would love to ride and help land them.

Sounds good Dave, i was just looking at it on the map and it looks like a big body of water, what areas would you say hold the most?? i might have to come a day early to spend scouting the area.

silverman, i would say the north end past the columbiaville rd would be best. it stays flat and shallow with undevoloped shoreline and lots of cattails.
just let me know when you want to make the trip.

mouth of the river is good way back in all the cattails. the cattail roots suck tho. i used to live in north branch we would shoot the reservoir from time to time.

ya, when there spawning. me personally i wouldn't make a special trip most fish are small. you may just as well go shoot the bay if you come up that far. don't get me wrong there are some good size fish but compared to the bay it don't come close.

Very true there is nothing like the bay... never been there but fishing the bay doesn't compare to local waters

The best area in that body of water is definately the columbiaville side of Mt Morris Road. Plenty of bayous, inlets and shallows. Put in at columbiavill and crusie the shores, or just motor through the main body of water and into the river channel that takes you to the Mt, Morrise Rd bridge, along that channel will have a blast.

The Big part of hollawy holds plenty as well, but the fish are more concentrated in the columbiaville side of the bridge.
