On his 3rd try!

Any help on weather or not we are behind the 8 ball on a guide and a few references would be helpful. He never checked online for results...its just not his bag. He got the packet in the mail yesterday.

Thanks

Ryan

Congradulations to your Dad,

Guides get booked up quick. I suggest he book a guide real soon . I drew an anyelk tag also. Got me guide all ready booked with deposit sent. If you search forum here you will find some guides that are highly recommended.

Hey Griz, do you mind sending me some info in a PM. I already tried one guy that was mentioned here but only got a machine at his home phone.

And yes, absolutely will be with him every step of the way! I will also be doing load dev. for the Ruger M77LH in 30-06 that I bought him for helping me build my house!!!

I hope we can get hooked up with someone.

Dad has the sept hunt in unit L. This is going to be great! We have hunted Presque Isle and Alpena counties all my life and going after an elk will be a new experience.

I used Keith Huff when I was 16, got me a beautiful 6x6 on the first day of the hunt. That was 14 years ago, so I have no Idea how to get ahold of him, but he lives just east of Gaylord. Good Luck and congrats on winning the Lotto. lol

Congrats to your dad I also was lucky enough to draw a Bull elk permit for the first season. I also missed out on the first guide he was already booked but I booked the other guide I really wanted to hunt with last night. I am excited about the hunt now just trying to learn all of the rules.

From looking through dads packet it looks as if the dnr will provide us with all the necessary info on the 31st of Aug. at the mandatory orientation.

If you decide to hunt it all on your own. I did it twice this way. I will give you some tips/pointers to save scouting and hunting time. It is easier with a guide but i loved hunting them on our own. I tagged out both times before some of the famous road hunting elk guides even saw a elk
