Out of the five arrows I've bought, we only have two left. Also, I wanted some arrows to practice with that are the same length and weight, but maybe with no tip or assessories.

I don't want to lose any expensive arrows while we are just learning to shoot, so does anyone have any suggestions for how I can get some cheap fishing arrows and practice arrows?

Two arrows were lost on the first shot on a new bow. It might not be a good idea to "see how far this thing can shoot" ...

The other one the tip just fell off somehow. I was letting my daughter shoot it for fun, and she probably didn't tighten the tip.

As you can see, in my family we need cheap arrows.

Oh, and my frustration with shooting at fish it that we only see one about every fifteen to twenty minutes. I want a lot of fish to shoot at. I need hundreds of shots, that way maybe I will accidently hit one.

Oh I see. I usually only bowfish when I can see carp rolling around in the shallows. The only place I have strictly bowfished is mott lk. Not sure what to tell ya... sorry. There are a few seasoned vets out here that probably could help us out with practice lol good luck , josh

Are you using AMS saftey slides? if so what kind of Knot are you tieing?? those first two arrows should have never come off... i think ive only lost about 4 arrows in the past 3 years.

Tie some weights to 2 litres & sink them. Cheap & effective. You will have a little trouble pulling arrows out but it works good.

I use 200lb test planer board line. AMS Cable slides & shoot 40-45lbs.

If you are using Muzzy tips you can get replacements.

Yes, we are using safety slides. My son tied the arrows on, but it isn't like all of them came off. He used a series of knots, I tied on the last one, which has not come off, with a five-wrap fishing knot.

He showed me how he made a big knot at the end of the extra line just in case, to keep the string from slipping through the holes. This was after tying several knots right at the connector. I had to agree, his knots didn't look like they could have possible slipped through, however, we know they did because the line didn't break and the slider wasn't still connected either.

I sometimes use a drop of crazy glue on the knot but the only sure thing is to recheck your knots occasionally because they do come untied

You should not have to tie that many knots...all you need is one.

Yes a series of knots is not what you want... it will eventually fail every time.. its just a matter of time. Use the Knot AMS reccoments, it is one knot and it will not let go. VERY effective. This will help out A LOT!

Can you point me to a link about that knot?

Wow, look at this site I found, it looks like I used the Improved Clinch, what does AMS recommend?

This link should bring you to a number of different Instructional downloads reccomended by AMS Bowfishing.

I hope that helps!
