Shot a carp the other night that looked totally different than the common carp we had been getting. Look at the second fish down from the top. I immediatly thought it looked like a buffalo carp? I read that there are some smallmouth buffalo carp that are native to the Great Lakes? I have close up pics but not that I can put up right now. You can see it is more silver in color. Its eyes were small and black and its mouth was different than the commons. (no wiskers)

More than likely a big-mouth buffalo
According to Mike Thomas (DNR) there are quite a few in Michigan, although mostly in Lake Erie. I got a 30+# near 9 Mile a few years back thinking it was a carp until a few "southern boys" brought the lack of barbles to my attention. I sent the picture to Mike and he gave a positive ID
Looks like you had a great day

From wiki.answers.com:
A buffalo carp is not really a carp. It is a fish in the sucker family called a Small Mouth Buffalo. This fish is commonly confused with the common carp and thus its colloquial name has evolved to be "Buffalo Carp." The fish is commonly found in the southern USA. Multiple Small Mouth Buffalo of over 70 lbs have been caught wiht rod and reel in the USA.

Most think the buff's are the same family as the carp, The same goes for the grass carp and they changed it's name in the USA to White Amur, a name developed to avoid use of the name "carp"as its not part of the same family (Cyprinus carpio) and is Ctenopharyngodon idella.
