One of my hunting buddies decided that he wants to make a perminant spot this year on the edge of a feild that looks back into a swamp. He asked me the other day if I knew of any ideas of how to make a elevated blind. So I figured who better to ask then the experts (thats you guys);)

He is looking to get this up somewhere between 15 and 20 feet off the ground. I don't need plans for the enclosure or blind itself, just how to build the supports and what not. This will probably end up being a primarily archery spot, but I can see a nice enclosed blind being put on top.

I was thinking of sinking some 3 or 4 4x4 about 4 feet into the ground??? But where to go from there?

Does anyone know of any links, or anywhere I can find plans for this?

He is pretty open to suggestions at this point.

We used the "Elevators" product last year, and were really happy with the way it turned out. Very secure and stable. We actually built two blinds, one elavated about 10 feet and one on the ground. The one on the ground got picked up and carried about 50 yards acrossed a field by the wind and the elavated blind is still standing in place..go figure. Link is below..

Boy Mike for a guy as smart as you I wouldn't think this would have to be explained, but here goes.

1)approach doors
2)push button
3)wait....wait....wait
4) when doors open enter and push the pretty button with your desired floor number
5) when doors close swallow hard and hang on
6) when doors open walk out and you will either be above or below where you previously were.

Spend your money on wood instead......I would think that you would want to use 6 x 6's if your gonna be 20' up.......Mack

True, but if you take the steps you will be in better shape for that long drag once the season gets here!

We built ours on 4-4X4X16. Each put in the ground 4ft, cemented in and cross bracing. Then we built an enclosed blind on the 4X4s that is about 7 ft tall inside. Then put a flat platform on top of that for bow hunting. It puts the bow hunting platfrom about 20-22 ft of the ground.

If it were I, I would do it in wood. Here is one that I built a couple of years ago for my dad. Just keep in mind, it can get a little pricey :yikes:
I used 14' 4X6 for my legs, dug my holes 4' and put an 80 pound bag of gravel mix in each hole for my pads. I had made all my walls in sections, and trusses at home and once at site my pre-fab walls and roof went up pretty easy :D
I've sat in it many of evenings when the weather just sucked to be in a treestand and they are the cats meow!
A buddy of mine built one last summer and had the brilliant idea of running a piece of 3" piece of pvc from inside the structure, outside to the ground where he buried the end of it 2' below grade where he backfilled with peastone. Dosen't even have to flush :lol:

I can't help but wonder if he pasted a little rabbits fur around the 3''pvc pipe:yikes:

Yeah, I know what happens at deer camp stays at deer camp;)
