The Nikons are really good for the price. If you watch Dick's and Dunham's add's you can find these for $89 on sale.

Get the best you can afford. You don't have to drop 1G or more on Zeiss or Swarovski, but there are some good binos that are reasonably priced. You have binos to aid you in looking so you want a pair that won't put eye strain on you because of cheap glass. My personal thought is anything under $100 is a waste of money, but that's just me. Check some birdwatcher websites or even forums, they spend a lot of time in binos and have good input for all price range binos.

I caught a nice set of leupold's on sale a few years back. Just browsing there sight it looks like the Rogue Compact Binoculars from Leupold are around 100 bucks - 10x25 - 100% waterproof and fog proof with a lifetime warranty. These would be a nice set.
Mine came with a case and cloth so i assume these would as well.

I have a pair of Nikon Action 8x that I got from Dunham's for around $79. In my case, I have learned that binos will at some point get lost or broken, so I don't like to spend a lot of money on them. The Nikons are very good for the money. They are armored and are very clear. Its hard to believe they can make this good of a pair of binocs for that little money. Good warranty too. Have looked through a relatives Swarovskys that cost a couple $thousand and there is not much difference between the two at the distances I need them for (300 yd.s max).

Your choice of binos should be dictated by the type of hunting you are doing. If you are hunting for game such as mountain sheep, mtn. goats, etc. at long range, getting an expensive top-rated pair is essential. You will be spending long hours glassing at long range. If you get a cheap pair you will lack the resolution necessary to pick up that extra inch or two of horn length that makes the difference between a real trophy and a so, so animal. You will also get head aches from the resulting eye strain. Be prepared to spend north of $500 for this quality of bino.
On the other hand, if you are deer hunting the Michigan woods and need to take a periodic look around to check out the area and look to confirm antler quality, you can get by with much lower quality

Take a look at Alpen Pro series binos. They were the "Best of the Best" in a recent comparison in Outdoor Life magazine. They said the resolution was similar to binos that cost 10x as much. They were about $150 on-line with no taxes or shipping charge. I absolutely love them and all of my friends can't believe how good they are for the price I paid. They make 2 different Alpen Pro's, one is multi-coated and the other is phase coated, which is the one you want. The phase-coated ones are only about $30 more than multi-coated.

These are hard to beat for the money. I have a pair of these I use for bowhunting in Michigan and I'm always amazed at the view you get for the money, and they are pretty small for a porro type bino. If you don't like em take them back to walmart! Try em you just might like them.
