Hey guys, I've been fishing the AuSable for a couple of years now, most of my fishing has been done on the South, North, or main closer to Grayling, However a buddy of mine reveals he has a cabin in Luzerne that we can stay in.. Sooo... any advice on the waters down that way? where can I get a good map (I have the T.U. book, dont think it goes downstream that far but I could be wrong) Any help would be appreciated, this is all new territory to me.. Thanks!

Floated McMasters to Parmalee last Friday and did well, boated two over 18", one over 20" and countless smaller ones. All mid day action, all on streamers, small rapalas, and spinners.
When we were leaving alot of guys were putting in for a brown drake hatch. When we got there that morning there was still some fish feeding on the surface, but very sporadic and random, we only had luck sub-surface.
Good Luck,
PETE

Scout:

There is (at least used to be) a companion book to the book you have called the "Lower Ausable" put out by the same TU chapter that your book came from. I haven't seen it too much in the Grayling shops. You might try Linsenman's shop in Mio for it, or contact the TU chapter directly.

It follows the same format that your book does...maps of sections with numbered access points, mileage, descriptions of water, etc. If I remember correctly it covers the water from Mio to the mouth of the River at Lake Huron.

I saw that book at Jay's over the weekend.

Also, I stopped in at AuSable Angler and Bob just pulled out the little forest service map and got me started with a couple of spots. Pretty easy to find the boat ramps and there are other spots at the end of two tracks that can be seen clearly from that little map. Might be online somewhere. It was mostly for canoers and had float times.
