From the reports i am hearing, most of the walleye in au gres or caseville are being caught at or near the bottom. My question is weither or not these fish have been showing up easily on the graph on the bottom or have people been fishing areas to find the fish.
In my home port of port austin when the eyes arrive they are mostly and open water bite in mid water column. These fish are marked very easily. While we have the boat in caseville for a week or two, i need to know if i can eliminate unproductive water just by using the graph, or if i need to fish it.
Thank you in advance.

Alot of times you won't mark fish on the graph and I have noticed the fish are in schools both mid-range and lower water column. So in answer to you question I would fish as much water as you can with lines set 30-40 back and lines set to run the bottom with 2oz bb over 12-20 fow when you find the fish keep running over the same area a few times...then move on.

I'm able to pick up the bottom hugging fish on the graph, as well as some suspended fish.:)

My buddy bought the new HDS Lowarance unit. We mark fish all through the water column. Last weekend we were fishing in forty foot and marked a lot of the fish right on the bottom.

I agree, if you have the graph tuned right you should be able to mark them without a problem.

Alot of the inner bay has good fishing less than 20' of water. You might not mark much fish with the tight cone in that shallow. Fish that shy away as boat approaches will be off to sides where the planers ride. Best is to know the areas the fish are in from year to year and give it a try with different depth presentations out, maybe one side all high and the other all low to get an idea first, then tune in from there. The way the fish are right now out there, if you give an area a half hour of trolling over it without a bite, pick up and move. Seems like 15'-20' range is always a good all around depth on inner bay as summer get here.
