Well, took a ride today.
Went to mud creek, no one was out there and the ice was still a bit broken up.
Caseville had about a dozen shanties on the ice on different parts of the harbor river. there was one out by the breakwall and also a guy fishing in the river mouth near the wall. Stopped in at walsh gun/tackle and he said that there perch are off and on at caseville, if u hit the right day u get some nice ones. Geiger road has slowed down as tons of people have spooked the perch that were in a foot of water.
Port austin had ice in the whole harbor, but only near the state ramp and wooden dock were safe. Seen two guys and a shanty out there. As we pulled up, they covered something silver laying on the ice with snow and pulled up there tip ups and got there spears and left. before they left, we asked how they did and they said they seen one small perch and that was it.
BTW, there are pictures of caseville i took today off the harbor and the people fishing. they are in the outing forum, under the poll saginaw bay/caseville outing date for those who are intersted.
