Just wondering what everyone uses for line on their tip ups? and what type of hook?

20# test 4# dia.
Better knots than spiderwire.
I also use Gamaguchi (SP?) size 6 treble hooks.

I prefer the old-fashioned 20# black tip-up line and then a 24-30" leader of 8# mono.
Hook of choice is #4 Heddon Excaliber with a Northland stinger.

I still use the old green tip-up line. I put a small button on it and use that as a set point so i know where to wind it to after catching a fish. I attach it to a 4-6 foot section of flourocarbon 10lb test mono with a barrel swivel, and finish it off with a #10 treble.

Sounds like your headed the right way w/the prior comments. But , for pike I personally would use a 20 or 30# leader and a good sharp hook . I use a #8 Matzuo & a stinger. Smaller hooks have always done better for me...wish you many flags !! MJ

my choice is 30# black mason tip up line with a 15' leader of 10# vanish and a #14 treble hook. this set-up works for me on walleye and perch.

20# black tip up line to a barrel swivel with a 24-30 in. leader of 8# trilene XT with 2 red beads threaded on then a # 8 treble.. Gets you the walleyes and plenty of pike with minumal bite throughs!
