Metro report

[Fishstalker]

Fished Metro this morning in the basin and the far side of the island...just a couple of dinks caught...Cotton Rd ice is very dangerous....Also, a canal off S. river rd. that a couple of landowners gave access to fishermen is now closed due to slobs that abused their priveleges. Made out for a terrible morning:mad:

Fishstalker, myself and Czar were on the back boat basin also this morning. I think we managed about 10 fish, with nothing over 8", which means nothing came home. Out of all the guys out, I only saw 2 fish over 8", pretty sad. We fished all over the back basin, the barge cut is now passable. Next time out, Jan. 18th on Lake Simcoe, I'm tired of fishing Metro. Heard there was some excitement over at Selfridge today, it will probably be on the news.

I'd still be careful when crossing the barge cut. I heard that a guy fell in on Thursday but was able to get out right away.

Any of you regulars to Metro know if the ice on the beach affects the fishing in the basin? I notice about a week ago that the fishing was pretty good in the basins when there was ice off the beach. Now that the ice is gone from the beach I only hear of dinks and complaints of few fish.

Could this be a factor?

Gunrod, I wouldn't call myself a Metro regular, but I don't think the ice, or lack of ice, off the beach has any bearing. I fished there on Christmas Eve and did horrible and there was ice off the beach. The ice blew out on Thursday, but was back on Saturday and again, the fishing was poor in the basin.

I got a call last night from a friend who fished the back basin from
3 until dark and pounded the perch. He said that he left there
with about 40 nice ones at dark.

How is the ice this week? Any chance there will be ice at Gino's or Selfridge by this weekend?
