Hello all,
Could someone give me some info or advice on some access points on the rifle river? Could I park on the side of the road near the bridges to get in the water or are their some access points near selkirk I could use? Please PM me if you give me some direction.
Thank You

Take it for what it is. I have fished the Rifle many times and have had no issues with parking on the side of the road except at M55. EVERY time I have parked there my vehicle gets egged. EVERY TIME. I suppose the mission was accomplished as I no longer park there. I have talked with others with similar experiences as well.
Good luck fishing. I have a place just 1.5 miles from Selkirk and really like the river.

I know this post is old but I got something to add to the egging of cars... why not park there hide in the brush and when someone comes by your car write down there license plate and report them? Just a thought.

Sounds like you got the info you needed.
Ogemaw County, where the judicial system is a family institution. If anyone gets harressed parking/fishing there and you are not in the no parking zone, please file a complaint with the sheriff. Complaints to the DNR do not get listed as Ogemaw County crime rate. Once thier crime rate statistics get looking bad they will even arrest family members. I would look real close at the guy with the chicken coop right just where the parking ban starts!
I live 100 yards from M-55 and the Rifle. It is 1 of the worst rivers around as far as waterfront owners thinking they own the river, but I have seen river users totaly abuse property too. Also in the last year or so it seems everyone living on the river has invested in pistols and converted the river area to a shooting range, keep your head low.
There used to be (may still be around) a state trooper that lived a stones throw off the M-55 bridge that had a bad rep about 20 years ago. I was walking/fishing in the water and came across about 10 salmon strung up on stringers and tied to his shoreline, was checking them out and the guy came at me with his service revolver. After that he used to stop me all the time in my car and insist my street name on my ID was mispelled because it is spelled different than it is pronounced. (My neighbor, mind you) Gave me three warnings to get it corrected then a ticket the 4th time, (for falsefying info on my ID) which was dropped after I showed the court he was wrong. He gave me a 2nd ticket 6 months later so I complained to the State police and turned his fishing secret in to the DNR. I assumed he moved because I have never seen him since.

there isn't much worse than the local yokels "owning" everything... But if you lived there you would probably get that bored too (hopefully not)

I'm a newbie to fly-fishing, and also want to know access points to the Rifle. My only time on the river I went in just north of Selkirk at the Canoe put-in off of Gerald Miller road. It was my second time ever flyfishing, and it was all I hoped for (except for not catching any fish, putting lots of flies in the trees, etc, and I probably was throwing the wrong flies and presenting them wrong, but oh well, that's what experience will bring) - but the river itself was great. I'm hoping there are several other good spots to get into the river besides this.
any tips would be greatly appreciated.
