View Full Version : group hunt/ get together this summer??
well everyone i've been thinking that i would like to go on a bowhunting trip before school starts this next summer. Trout and i were talking yesterday about this in the Campfire and he suggested maybe a hog hunt. said that there is a place up north just south of Mackinaw that has them and i was thinkin that maybe a bunch of us could get together for a weekend and go camping and hog huntin on this place and then do whatever the rest of the time. maybe have a like a cook-out of wild game and stuff. just an idea. let me know what ya thing

Sounds cool moe. It would serve as a great tune-up for bow season. Wilderness state park is a great place to camp and is in the area you mentioned.

I have needed an "excuse" to go boar hunting :) I have no desire to go bear or moose hunting out wherever, but I would like to go boar hunting before I pass on. Get something together and keep us posted!!
Bowdad,
where exactly is this place? have you ever been there?? what is this place called and do you have their phone number?? thanks

I would like to try the Boar Hunting thing. Count me in! The place runs an add in a few Michagan Magazines. I'll look one up.

I found some Boar Hunting places in Michigan. Here are some web sites:
Near Jackson: www.thunderhillsranch.com (http://www.thunderhillsranch.com)
East of Indian River: Savage Cedar Ranch 888-819-8119
Cheboygan: Renegade Ranch 231-627-7232
South of Kalamazoo: Willow Lake Sportsman's Club 616-279-7124

Moe - Looks like Hunt4Ever found some great places to hunt. If we were to choose one near Indian River or Cheboygan, then Wilderness state park is a great place to camp. It's on the shore of Lake Michigan just outside of Mackinaw city. Burt lake state park in Indian River or Aloha state park on Mullett lake are great places also.

This sound like a great time. Moe are you checking into the cost. I would like to go depending on cost and time.

Well, I don't rightly know if'n I can get proper permission, but if I do, and if its not too costly, I'd love to. Maybe I'm a bit out of shape for this but I can always back out at the last minute if that appears to be the case.

looks like it costs $450 to take a boar on the ranch near Jackson. I know that isn't much cpmpared to alot of ranches. My boss just got back from MO and they charge $10K to take a whitetail. If it is a record book deer as much as $75K. Still $450 is a bit more than I can handle right now. I think it would be a great time. Maybe when I take my buck this year (that is bigger than Mitch R.) I'll sell it and go where ever and when ever I want.
