Well me and Frank went to Kent lake early, caught a ton of 3 - 4" perch. Ice was 5"+. Then went to a lake in Howell and caught a few nice crappie and gills, ice was 5"+ there also. Then we headed to Hell and met up with Gunrod and his son (Finally lol) Ice was 1 1/2 to 3". He fished but we didn't chance it. How did you guys do?

Going back to Howell tomorrow.

Met someone from the site fishing in Howell but for the life of me I can't remember your screen name. Anyways it was nice talking to you hope you had good luck.

Nothing Mike. Sorry about the ice conditions. If some wind would blow that snow insulating the ice away I know it would freeze some more. You should have seen how our holes were freezing up with no snow on them. We actually moved about 10' out from where you last saw us and the lake dropped 7 more feet. We marked 4 fish on the bottom but couldn't get anything to bite.

I'm heading to metro tomorrow afternoon since we have a party on that side of town and the kids need to be dropped off at some relatives where they will be staying for a while.

Good luck tomorrow.

We, my fellow SE ice fisheman, are getting SCREWED, and I am quite pissed. Break for me began on the 13th and I was able to get two solid days of ice fishing in before my spot became iffy, now there is no ice there at all....sigh.....I just know it will get nice and hard around here right after I head back to school....UGH

Metro in the boat basin is still good Art if you are down this way. Lots of perch but a lite bite right now. Most of it has to do with some pike in the area and the rest has to do with the crowds on the ice. It has to be a lot of noise down there.

But there's enough to keep you interested and solid to keep you dry.

I'll be out for a little while in the late afternoon but don't have a time. I'll look for you.

Wigglers have been real good to me out there but you have to deal with some small ones that you wouldn't deal with if you were using minnows. But the little ones keep you interested.

Good Luck and I hope to see you.

Metro is a good bet especially if ice scares you you can just stand on the dock. Let me know how you do gun Frank wants to take his g/f's grandson up there next week.

2 days ago the ice was 4 to 5 inches. With the cold weather last night it should be a little thicker. The ice should be pretty safe as long as we don't get that rain predicted. It might disappear like the ice off the beach did if that rain does come.

Art, wife changed my plans for me again and I won't be out today. I'm not happy about it but hope you run into some good luck. If she doesn't change things again for me I will be out tomorrow.

You didnt miss much. Dinks Dinks Dinks. In fact, I caught my smallest perch ever on hook and line, no bigger than 3 inches...maybe tomorrow.

There's been some big crowds out there and I was reading in a magazine today that crowds/pressure will put perch off. Sounds like the article hit the nail on the head.

I plan on trying metro again today if my wife doesn't put the damper on those plans. She didn't like dealing with me today after putting the hex on my plans so I don't think she'll do it again.

I fixed the shanty and will try tomorrow afternoon since it is so late now.
