Saw some, but don't know what they are. They're big, bright and gaudy. Maybe marabou?
Any idea?

Something very close to this I guess...without the flash:

Anybody tie them or know where to get them? Any other names it may go by in MI?

uptracker,
Seen lots of them in AK they go by maribou, flashabou, and they are easy to tie. Here is a very effective fly in AK my grandfather gave me a few long ago and he has caught numerous salmon on them in Mi/Canada; I have caught tons of salmon and rainbows on them in AK; all 5 species of pacific salmon to be exact. Tie a few and give them a swim google "oragne wiggle tail" and use the pattern from "alagnakriverlodge". This is the pattern I use.

Should be able to get them in just about any fly shop near a salmon stream in the fall. These are some of the more traditional Alaskan Salmon flies - lots of fun to tie, but why would you leave out the flash? The flash is the best part! They go by lots of names, but are all basically the same fly tied with different colors of marabou and schlappen. The orange marabou/purple schlappen is probably the most famous - the Popscicle.
You can also check out Cabelas - they have a few different patterns.

dont they call those flesh flies? i use some when i bottom bounce for steel, alot smaller in size tho..they either get hit really hard, or no luck with them...the action they give in the water is beautiful.

Good Day,
If I remember correctly, most "flesh flies" are tied with bunny strips. :D
