Hi, some of my family and friends are wanting to take a short trip this winter to do some snowmobiling. I need any information I can get. We do not own snowmobiles, so therefore we will need to rent them for a day. We would like to do some ice fishing also. Where is a good place to go? Thanks for your help!!

iceprincess,
unfortunately alot of the places that rent snowmoblies are in very busy areas, like houghton lake, standish, westbranch.
there are a few in the u.p. around trout lake and newberry that rent sleds too, im not sure what the quality is at any of these places, but you will need your own clothing. (bibs coat helmet)
at the rate this year is going maybe you should plan a jet-ski trip instead;)
have fun, sorry i couldnt be more help.

look for snow conditions then contact the chamber of commerce in that area. basically, you need the snow to go. good luck

Thanks DieselDude!

I just wish I knew which ones were good. I know Hacker''s in Houghton Lake have great rentals. That is as long as you rent them before tip-up town if you know what I mean.

Try Bird's Snowsports in White Cloud, MI. 231-689-6571. I know it's not what you think of as a snowmobiling mecca but they are near a trail system to ride locally or they also rent trailers and are on the way to more trail systems. I have rented from them in the past and so have my friends. I believe they have helmets, coats, bibs, boots and gloves also available to rent. They are also many lakes in the general area to ice fish too. Hope this helps.
Brad.

Rental express of indian river (top of michigan by the mackinaw bridge) rents them by the day and there are alot of trails and lots of lakes like burt and mullet to ice fish. If you want more info or number for rental express just let me know.
Where ever you go have fun and be safe. Hope you enjoy Icefishing.
