I was Northern's post about his info. But, what I need is very up to date photo's. We've had a lot of timbering done in the last 24 months and also put in several fields. So I almost need real time photos. Nothing older than 3 months. I also want good detail of my section. I don't mind paying a fair amount for it. I'd probably want to do it this Spring, after our winter cutting is done, but before the leaves come out. Or maybe get a picture in each season. Has anyone used any source for this? I know there's a ton of them if you do a Yahoo search, but I'm hoping for some info first hand. Thanks.

I don't know of any way other than Hiring a Pilot to fly over and take pics...Mabey if ya go to that little Airport near the BBT Shop you could pay one of the Pilots to take ya up so you can snap some pics....

I thought about that. Although that's a bit more pricey than I wanted. I was hoping to find a download for under $100. The fly over guys are a couple hundred. But that may be my best option.

I have some connections with some Ludington Pilots. We'll chat next time I'm up.

Bob,
Just a thought. Maybe you could buy a ride in a plane for $100 or so and bring a digital camera. Granted, not the same as the professional aerial photos, but if the ones on the internet are either too old or too expensive, then it might work.
With this method you could get exactly what you want, plus a lot more detail of specific areas.
It would be a heck of a lot of fun, too. Maybe take Steve with you and split the cost.

The aerial pic are shot every ten years and the new '98 pics aren't D/L yet into all the system...there is always some postcard I get that advertises to fly over your property for an updated picture. Course I threw it out.
You can buy aerial photos from the soil conservation office in your district. If there has been a lot of activity in the area the may have updated pictures.

The Nat. Forest Service flys fire lookout patrols regularly . Do you have any friends there ? Maybe a conversation at their office , in Baldwin , could get something going .

Try tying a camera to a kite and flying it over your property. Use two strings one to hold the kite and one to trigger the camera. I don't know if this will work, but it would be funny as hell to watch someone try. Or maybe a really big helium balloon. :D

BOB, go to www.spaceimaging.com,, This company actually owns they're own satelite in space, They can take pics of ANYTHING. Hope this helps and I hope you have high-speed internet, cause these maps are hi-tech and take forever to download on a dialup

Try earthviewer.com You can download a trial version (30 days) but you don't get all the options. The trial will give you an idea of what it does for you. I had the trial on another comp. last year for 30 days, then forgot all about it. Put it on my new comp. and the updates were wonderful. If you want the full version it costs ($$$) but it is constantly updated. Right now they are concerned with updating cities, but I looked up my hunt area, and the beaver dam showed up that wasn't in an aerial photo from another sight. Give the trial version a try, you might like it.
