Fished Lake Ovid on Tuesday, from 10am to 1pm. Caught a mixed bag of Crappie and Gills. Had to sort, but brought home enough for a fish dinner for the family. Had about 4"-5" of ice on the lake itself. The north and east shorelines still had open water, but the west and south shores were fine, except AVOID EAST SIDE OF THE ISLAND ACROSS FROM THE BOATLAUNCH: I saw open water out 10 ft from shore.
Fish were hitting really light: I "tightline" with yellow stren, and most bites were no more than a sideways twitch. I was near a couple guys who were using bobbers and a flasher: they caught maybe 4 fish between them.
I'm hoping to get out again, either Saturday or Sunday..... anyone else interested in trying?

Yeah I plan on getting out, but not when you're within sight of open water! A few Sleepy Hollow 'gills are not worth a swim in 30 degree water or worse. If I get out, I'll probably go up to the bay where the water is only 18"-24" deep so if you fall in, you don't get completely wet or drown. But keep posting results for Ovid. Been over to Muskrat yet?

Haven't fished Muskrat in two years....just don't like the lake.
I understand your caution about Ovid, but there were about 20 people out on Tuesday.......
