I'm going to tie a flourocarbon leader onto my braided line for my pike set up. Should I use a blood knot? or just use a tiny barrel swivel? Seems like everytime I tie line to line, my knot isn't very strong.

Yep,
It's the double uni

Here's a link to the knot sight

FYI - It can be difficult to tie, the first couple of times. Once you get the hang of it, you can do it with your eyes closed. Okay, maybe not with the eyes closed, but it is pretty easy.

How does the double uni compare with the surgeon's knot?

The Surgeons does not perform well with drastically different line diameters. Double Uni fairs well.
A micro swivel is the best choice if it fits the application.

I've used an albright knot and never had issues. Leader breaks well before the knot gives. Just make sure you tie your flouro knots wet...thats the most important thing w/ flouro knots IMO.

EDIT- had wrong name

seven and seven knot. wrap seven times and cross and seven more times. Very strong knot. Learned it from Scott Martin FLW Pro.... Try it but wet it before you pull both tag ends and main line/leader.

But the uni-uni knot will come thru the guides much better. It's the ONLY knot I use to connect leader to braid.

i have had several fish bust the uni to uni knot with braid to mono but never mono to floro. also had the knot bust out an insert on the reel and a ceramic insert on the last guide. how many times do you guys that have had good luck with it put the tag ends though the loops?

It has to do with the number or wraps on the smaller or weaker line...
Power Pro includes a knot guide & it will tell you to use more wraps on the weaker line.
Trim the tag ends TIGHT also.
I have NOT had such problems.

UNI-UNI.
Next question!!!!!!!

I agree w/ the majority vote and uni-to-uni, tried using a swivel but it sucks for going through the eyes. I also agree that it is hard the 1st few times but I am finally starting to get the hand of it.

for ice fishing i do 3 an 3 wraps, but for the soft water i go with 4 and 4 or 5 and 5.

Thanks guys. I tried the know..not the easiest, but I think I got it. Wrapped 5x each dry, and pulled, broke at the knot
Wrapped braid 8x, flouro 5x dry, pulled and the braid slipped out.
Wrapped braid 8x, flouro 5x wet, pulled and it held very well.

One more question...why not just use 12-20" of leader connected with a tiny barrel swivel that you don't put through the guides? Seems like that would be a little more reliable. Why the need for such a long leader?

My usual sequence is to wrap 2-3 more times with the liter line, usually the mono/flouro, example- 15lb Power pro with 10lb Flouro the 15 lb end gets 4 wraps, the 10 flouro end gets 6, this keeps the knots of similar size, and yes, as Robert said cut the tag's at tight as you can, you will hear a tic when they pass thru the eye's but I have never had a problem with casting distance or haning or destroying eye incerts!
