Any body ever use one? They run off electric and auger in wood pellets that you can buy in different flavored woods
The host on a deer hunt to kansas last fall cooked for us on his treager grill-smoker and man that food was great. He had the smallest version in camp and the mack daddy at his house. They used the pellets at a very slow rate and everything turned out very moist and tender. I think he used the medium setting that cooked at around 200-250 most of the time. He would put a good rub on the meat and just let it go for however many hours he thought it needed. It seemed very simple to use and made great food.

I love mine, ive got the lil tex version.Would have liked to go with the bigger one,but i can fit alot on it and doesnt burn a ton of pellets,i cook everything on it.Smokes jerky and pork well, but it can get real hot to grill as well.I rarely use my gas grill or stick burner smoker anymore.also nice to be able to turn it on smoke and walk away, instead of babysitting the stickburner, you can actually cut the grass or get something done.kind of overpriced, but i would still buy another one, definitely with the digital switch.
Just curious..how much are the pellets? How much do you use say on a 5 hour cook @ 250F?
If you run out of pellets, is the unit then inoperable?

pellets run about $20 a bag or about $1 per pound,i hear you can buy in bulk someplaces,i ran into a clearance shelf at tractor supply for $3 a #20 bag and bought 27 bags.you have to use cooking pellets though, not pellets for heating.I would say at 250 degrees for 5 hrs youd burn about 5-6 lbs. There is a website with alot more info on treagers and pellet grills.www.pelletheads.com
