Well that is what I heard on Christmas Eve. I shot at a big doe at about 50 yards with my 44MAG. I told myself that I wasnt going to take out anything else. Here she comes with two other nice does, NO BUTTONS, and I let one roll. She is still standing there, BANG BANG BANG, Still just standing there. Then I Really bear down, BANG, Still standing there. I didnt even shoot my 6th shot. I just laughed. I am more happy that I didnt wound the deer, I guess I should have practiced more with it. They sure are tough to shoot. I am very good at about 20 yards, but out that far I am ........... well you get the point.

Maybe you could have walked back to the house, and got a rifle and finished the job the way she kept standing there:D

If you bought that gun for self protection I'd say your butt is in trouble.:D

I've always been amazed how far away 25yds. is when I'm firing a handgun, and 50 I don't want to even think about.

I shot a big doe last year with my Ruger 44 mag pistol at 32 yards and she slamed on the ground like she was hit by a cannon ball. She crawled 20 more yards and expired. I am sure it was in the shell..used golden sabers.

Great story. Glad to hear you kept your humor :D

Good point from Hamilton Reef, I would definitely not want you backing me up when I go for Brown bear, at least with that pistol ;)

That was good for a chuckle, I am assuming you don't have a scope on your .44. I have been hunting with mine for about 6 years. My closest shot was about 15 yards and my furthest was 65 yards. I use a simmons 2.5-4 variable. I sight it in at 50 yards. At 20 yards it will be about 2 inches high, at 100 it will have a drop of about 6 inches. Spend some time practicing with it. Once I started hunting with a pistol I hate going back to a rifle.

I just like the ease of keeping it in a shoulder holster, leaning back against a tree, or sitting in a stand. I have yet to learn how to shoot them in my sleep:D

Yeah it was fun, but I am embarrased in missing so badly. The deer had no idea where the shot was coming from. I just figured that within 50 yards I would be on. Oh well, you learn something every day.

And NO I dont have a scope. But I will be practicing before taking it again. ;)
