Spear Fishing

Anyone have tips on spearing (any fish, but mainly carp)??? Also, I just got a spear(just the head) what should I fasten it to???

I've seen people attach them to a broom handle, I've always used my Ice spear so it has weight and is allready attached to the handle. My advice is if u are using a spotlight (I assume u are doing this at night) we had our best luck with one that u could switch from spot to wide beam. U would spot them first and then switch to wide beam this didn't seam to spook them as bad. Also bring an extra battery. Good luck

we use long wooden poles 10-15 feet long....spear em and let the spear go..follow the spear it will float cuz the wood....the fish will tire out then retrieve it
