The bass opener this year was great. We fished some areas near Grindstone City and hammered the fish all day. Between 6 guys, we caught around 120 fish with most being in the 14 to 16 inch class. We also caught some beauties that reached close to 20 inches and tipped the scale at 4 lbs. At lunch, we all met up, filleted some bass and guzzzled a couple refreshing Busch Lights. By the way, those fish tasted delicious!

Haven't seen a stringer like that in a long, long time. Congrats. Looks like you guys had one heck of a weekend. Too bad you had to wash em down with Busch lights. Just kidding. Thanks for sharing the report.

I've never eaten bass because i love catch and release... Do they taste even close to a walleye or no?

HELL NO! I've eaten some and they are alright, especially if they come out of cold water or are smaller ones. But they are nothing even close to a walleye, perch, bluegill, pike, etc., etc.

I've eaten some smallies caught out of cold clean lakes up north. Just filet out the mud vein well. Taste awesome!!

Those look like some nice smallies. Could you possibly "ups overnight" a couple of those to arrive at houghton lake before the weigh in on Thursday? I bet Carl had a blast.

I think the best part of the day was the shore lunch and Busch Light...

That pic of the shore lunch is priceless.
Donny: "No wonder you got kicked out of boy scouts Brad, come on get the fire going i'm hungry.
Brad: "Yeah, I new this was not going to be my day when the only jacket I could find this morning was my baseball jacket from 8th grade."
It is not hard to tell which one is Mike's son, looks just like him.
Nice job guys.

LT that pic is the aftermath of a GREAT lunch. Too bad you missed it. I'm pretty limited from now til September but let's try to make that trip at least once this year.
