Hey folks,
I've been thinking about taking my son wild boar hunting at one of the hunting ranches in mich. Does anyone have any good reccomendations as to who has a good one?
Thanks

I am currently researching ranches for a Russian boar hunt for one of my clients. I'll post what I come up with for him.

My brother-in-law went to a game ranch in the thumb area to hunt boars & said it was like shooting a domesticated pig. The hogs wouldn't run at all. All they basically had to do was pick one out to shoot. He said he wouldn't go back. It may be fine for some people, but he didn't like it. I went on a hog hunt down in Tennessee last spring. That was a really great hunt & we all were very satisfied with our hunt. I was hunting behind dogs & was carrying a muzzleloader. This place we hunted had 2000 acres to hunt on. You better be in a little bit of shape, since there's alot of hills down there & some of them hogs really go when the hounds are after them.We had one guy fall out of the morning hunt, the hunt was a bit harder than he expected. He rallied back for the afternoon hunt & got a nice hog. I would recommend the place I went to, it didn't feel like you were hunting in a 100acre fenced in pen. Just my humble opinion for what it's worth.:D

a friend of mine hunt at renegade ranch near cheboygan a few years back and said he had a great hunt. he shot a really nice russian and worked all day to get the shot he wanted. i shot a boar in the thumb a few years back abd had a good time but not the hardest hunt i have ever been on.
one important point about preserve hunts. you make the hunt what you want. by that i mean, be selective about the animal you want to kill and then use it as a chance to work on your stalking and general hunting skills. i don't know anyone who doesn't need a little more practice at still hunting or stalking. unlike being out in the open woods you know you will get another chance if you screw up.
i shot a ram one time on a ranch in ohio that took 9hrs to get close enough for a bow shot. i think the owner/ guide was getting a little tired of running up and down the hills of south eastern ohio with me, but at the end of the day i paid him so we each got what we wanted .
