so where are the walleyes in houghton lake & where would be a good place to start fishing? (i know--from a boat and on the lake.) i've heard that the east bay area is productive. any special rigs for this lake? or are the jigs, leeches, crawlers, minnows, & cranks the way to go?:fish:

for the walleye, i think minnows would be my last choice..too many hammer handles and bait stealing panfish..latest reports have the eyes shallow 5 to 8 feet..i like walleye alley..west shore from boat launch north to north bay..the north bay can also be quite productive if IF there is not too much pleasure traffic..we use cranks that run 3 to 5 ft. or gulp leeches..trolled or casted

I fished just Houghton Lake for a week straight from the 8th to the 15th of May. We caught the most fish on slip bobbers and leeches. Did well in East Bay out in front of Harveys. Fished straight out from the canal that goes into Harveys. It drops from 4' to 10'. Caught walleye in 10' fow, also got some real nice gills in the same location. Our group also got walleyes and some real nice crappie on the south west corner of the of the middle grounds 10-11' fow. The crappies prefer fathead minows. If you have the patients to watch bobbers it was very productive.
