View Full Version : Looking to do a butt this weekend

Let me start off by telling you that I have a propane Smoky Mountain smoker. (Not the greatest). Anyways the wife went and picked up a 7.5lb pork butt 4 days ago and put it in the freezer. Yesterday I pulled it out so I could smoke it for the weekend, and noticed it had a bone in it. Should I remove the bone or should I smoke it with the bone? I think I should remove the bone and Tie it down, but I'm not sure.
Any info would be helpfull
I prefer bone in. It just slides out of that bad boy at 200F.

I'll smoke to 170, then wrap in foil to 200-205 then pull. Let rest for 1hr. Then serve... Correct?

Just to let you know I plan useing, what I believe is your rub I found on here.

Actually..I let cook (unwrapped) all the way too 200F (I like a hard, dark bark) I then take off, wrap in foil, then wrap in bath towel and place in dry cooler for 2 hours. After 2 hours, I unwrap and pull.
