What a nice time! We shot trap and skeet, pistols and rifles and blackpowder, ate like kings( or at least barons), and told tall tales.

We had a small turn out, but hopefully next time will be a bigger crowd. It was really nice to put a face to the names I have been reading. I don't think one could find a nicer group of folks.

It was great. I agree 100%. The club was nice. The food was good and the company was great. I was able to take along my 14 year old daughter. She will be a sportman (lady) for life. She was treated like a equal by all and had a wonderful time. I'm sure you all will be hearing from her directly shortly.
Thanks again Curdog for hosting the First Annual "michigan-sportsman-outing" at your shooting club.

Yup, Yup, Yup, Me too, Me Too, What they said.

I especially want to thank Kurt and Jenny, because they came and camped with us, Ruth and I are very sorry we had to leave them behind on their second night of camping but It just couldn't be avoided.

I want to give a special thanks to:
Ruth
Carrie (I hope I spelled it right)
Jenny
cindy
and Autumn
I am not sure if I ever saw a bunch of women who had no clue of each other get together and instantly hit it off the way these did. Their interest and support in their sportsmans hobby, (lifestyle for some) made the day even that much better. I'm proud to be aquainted with each one.

I am especially proud of Autumn. She stepped up to whatever opportunity came her way, and pulled it off admiralbly. There was nothing 14 about the way she handled herself, or the way she performed any task. I might be a little prejudiced since she's my niece, but thats just another thing I'm proud of. The fact that Curdog reported her having done better with the AR 15 than Stalker, well, I will get some mileage out of that for a few years.

We got home early and Ruth needed the PC for her studies. The Lord's work needs to come first at our house. Anyway, when she was done I thought that I was very tired and I would get some sleep and do this post tomorrow. Trouble is, the events kept replaying and I couldn't sleep.

Thank you Web for the shirts! They made great prizes. Mine did not fit, (got 1 for working and 2 for good shooting) so I passed them out to the ladies for fun.

There were 12 of us there at times, and yet we were able to collect 80.00 for the door prize. congratulations to Jenny who won it. If it had been a hunter, girl or otherwise, we would have purchased a surprise $80 item from a gun shop or the like and given that. Since it was Jenny, and her recommended possible gift was books, we will be sending her a gift certificate to Barnes & Noble. I hear its her, and Kurt's favorite hangout, (they're teachers what can I say) I also hear that if Kurt plays his cards right, shooting books may be in his future.

Well, this may hold the record for the longest post, but I have to make you all drool. We had pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, and coffee for breakfast. We had some of the best times shooting, then, we had dinner. Suculent roast Pheasant. A potato and veggie medley steamed over the grill, Lake Michigan Salmon, grilled in a foil pouch for some of the best poached salmon ever eaten, a garden collection of fresh veggies also cooked in a foil pouch on the grill with home grown herbs, scores of homemade cookies throughout the day, Amish cinamon bread, things like real butter and real maple syrup and 1/2 & 1/2 for the coffee. All this prepared by people who love this klnd of food and pamper it to perfection.

If anything in this post sounds good to you and you were not there, here are two comments.

If you couldn't make it we are very sorry and looking forward to seeing you next time.

If you chose not to come because you weren't sure you'd enjoy yourself, EAT YOUR HEART OUT. HA.

C ya

I would like to suggest that for the next outing, plan for Sat. and Sun. I have to work on Fri. Right now, I am teaching a Creative Photogaphy class on Sat. AM. Then have a 2.5 hour dirve. Could be there by early Sat. Afternoon. Would most enjoy the campfire and food.

Might also plan some kinds of demonstrations.

suggestions for the next possible outing are in order. The sooner we get started planning, the better the outing will be.

Here is one possible thought, we could have a DEER TALES gathering soon after gun season, and discuss the thrill of victory and agony of defeat. Just a thought. It would be very difficult to plan due to family responsibilities at that time of year, but still, if it came together it would be fun.

The best is still summer though, for the chance to get outside and participate instead of just talk about it.

Oh well, I'm waiting to hear someone jump up and volunteer to organize the next one.

A standing ovation and a big heartfelt thank you to all who took the time and energy to organize this event. Although my stay was brief, my son Paul and I had a wonderful time! We immediately felt at home and enjoyed all of your company. To those who didn’t attend you missed a great time with a tremendous group of people!! I’m looking forward to the next event.

Thanks again!!

P.S. – The fishing was incredible, limits abounded. I’ve got more fish than room in my freezer. Sooo… If any of you are ever in my neck of the woods, I’ve got some tasty salmon fillets for you. I’m going out again next weekend … guess I should go freezer shopping first. ;)

WHAT A HOOT!!!!! Not only was the shooting and food great but more importantly was the friendship and fellowship that jen and I had!The event was more fun than either of us could have imagined!!
I am so impressed by the ladies that attended! I was surprised beyond belief by my wife as well as by all of the other ladies there! Autumn, you rock!! Cindy, hows the cheek? :)
I look forward to getting back together with all of you very soon. The friendships made will not be a once in a lifteime, they will be over and over again.
Thank you all for making this event happen. We felt so comfortable with all of you, even though we had just met. Jen and I talked about how nice it was that everyone was supporting us in our attempt to shoot some of those $@!$@##$@ orange things :)
Well, off to relive the event in my mind! Thanks again everyone!!!!

Woman's standpoint--YEEHAW!! I am so proud to have been amongst some incredible people this weekend. I felt like it was a family reunion, but without cheek-pinching by my Polish aunt.Food was fabulous, amazing openness & support, a hug to ALL that were a part of this..thanx to Sarge & Ruth for not laughing too hard at our tent-making, Trout & Cyndi for their wonderful hearts, Earl & Autumn for great conversation, Cur & Carrie for the adrenaline rushes, Bowdad & son for coming to spend time w/us. The club folks were wonderful! Gotta sneak a ty for my husband (bruised one) who was so supportive, too. Let's not wait a year for more time together, okay? We'll be back in October--can't believe I'd ever be a camping & gun fanatic!
