This is optional.....
I found a large red feather at a craft store. It's shaped like a peacock feather, is very soft and flexible and it's veins operate (flex) separately from each other.
I took a piece of 20 gauge wire, bent a long loop handle in one end and bent the other end over about 3/4 inch. I heat the bent end in a propane torch and use it to implant feathers in soft plastics.
Take three veins and super glue them together at the base for a distance of approximately 1/2 inch. I do this on wax paper and let the glue dry completely. This holds the veins together and provides a stiff end to be placed in the lure.
Now, using one of the watermelon/red speed worms mentioned in part one, and holding the larger end, melt a small opening in the back end of the lure and quickly insert the feathers. The veins will become activated by any current or movement of the lure. Will serve as an additional attractor.
Some of the veins near the base of the feather are probably too short, some later on going upwards may be too long....it's your call really. Will give the apprearance of having a larger lure and certainly the subtle movement won't do any harm.
Good fishing, Mac
p.s. The Red Feathers mentioned above are sold individually.
