I ended up with this nice machine and am trying to use in properly. In particular I want to learn how to download and use topo maps with it. Is there someone out there who is familiar with this device who wouldn't mind a few questions?

I've had one for quite a while now and use it with Garmin's Mapsource software. Just plug the cable into the GPS and then into your USB port. Open up Mapsource and go to the map area you want to download. You should be able to fit most of MI on the chip that comes with it. Zoom the map out so you can see the state (maybe 50 or so miles). On the tools bar there's a funny shaped object between the GPS icon and the magnifying glass called Map Tool. Click on it. Now go to the map of MI (or any other state) and it should highlight the area in yellow. Click it and it should turn pink. Keep doing this to all areas you want to send to your GPS. Then go up the the GPS icons and click the one on the right (send to GPS). You may have a window that pops up that says find device. If you haven't, click Find Device and it should autosense your GPS. Then send it and you should be good to go.

Thanks much. I'll give it a try and bet I'll get it right. If not, maybe I'll have another question. Thanks again. Let me know if I can reciprocate.
