Hey guys,
I am looking for a little advice on fixing up boats. I found a pretty decent one online and I have never fixed one up before. I have posted a link to the boat, below, any advice would be great. There are no interior pictures yet I asked for some. How do you go about repainting it? Sand it down and then go at it? Please excuse my ignorance on this. I guess that is why they created forums! Thank you.

Transom ,stringers and floor! Dirty job if they need to be replaced ,also there is a book called runabout renovation that really goes over the ins and outs of an old glass boat. Follow link

Depending on how the inside looks and how detailed you want to be in finishing it, it seems like a lot of work.
I am close to being done with a much smaller project boat. Fun little project that is starting to cost more than I thought.
Depending on how much time you can put into it each day it might be safe to say you will not have her ready for that much boating this year.
Post some photos of the inside when you get them.

As Rooster Smasher discovered, it always costs a lot more than you think it will! I'd look it over carefully and estimate costs for everything higher than you think it will cost. When you add it all up, DOUBLE it and you should be in the ball park. ;)
Jobs like that are a labor of love and take a long time to accomplish. Yes it can be done. But it's just a matter of how much time and money you have to throw at it. Personally, it looks like too much of a project for a first-timer. I hate to poop on your party but that's the way I see it. Good luck if you do attempt it. If you do, we'll be here for input.

To re-gelcoat the outside you're probably looking at 1-2 grand. Then there's the interior. Who knows if it's structurally sound??? (Stringers, transom, super structure). Then there's the mechanics. Batteries, motor, instruments, fuel tank, ect
And the cosmetics... Seats, bunks, carpet, ising glass, sheeesh....
If it were a classic like a Chris, Egg, Carver or Bertram, maybe, but not a Winner

Yea that is about the size of it, if I was trying to get rid of it I would price it to move, “FREE TRAILER COMES WITH BOAT”
I bet if you do some looking you can find a better starting point for less money, I know I have given away nicer boats than that! Check around your local marinas and storage yards you my be surprised what you can find for next to nothing!

Thanks for the honesty guys. I am still going to continue my search for a "fixer upper". I found a nicer one that only needs a new motor and thats it (engine block is cracked, probably from not winterizing it). I will keep everyone posted. Thanks again

Hey guys, what do you think a new engine for this boat would be? Do you think this would be worth it? It doesnt need nearly as much restoration as the other boat I linked to this forum was. Any suggestions is appreciated.

need to know the make and size of the motor. inboard or outboard?
Some good deals out there right now on used boats and more boats will come for sale as summer gets here. I would say save your money now, and buy when you can get a ready to go boat. repowering and rebuilding boats is costly and time consuming. wish you all the luck and post up some pics when you buy.
