I was wondering if anyone could steer me in the correct direction. I just bought my first boat, its 24' and was wondering what safety equipment is required. I looked up the DNR site a they say a day time signal and such things, but what constitutes a day time signal?:fish:

This handbook should give you all the info you need. I am in the process of going through the handbook myself for a refresher. It's great if you are a newcomer to boating and actually it should be required by all boaters. Things happen fast on the water.

If this is your first boat, take a safe boating class. It won't teach you how to operate your boat, you will have to learn that from practice, but it will help you recognise the rules of the road (water). My insurance company gave me a break on my policy for taking a class. Good Luck, and be careful.

Contact your local sherrif department, West Marine, Coast Gaurd Auxilary or Power Squadren about where the next Boaters Safety class is being held.
If you stop by a West Marine we have the books to handout for free.
If you want I can send you a copy. Just IM me your address. I have a nice big stack of them here at the store.

Best advice yet..... take the class. Yeah,, it's a pain in the butt, takes up a lot nights and weekends but it's more than worth it.
