I Hooked up the hose to fire up the motor this afternoon. She fired right up and ran great but when I went to hit the stop button she wouldnt stop. Im assuming a bad switch. I bought a replacment switch but have a couple questions. First off its a 1997 Evinrude 25 hp Electric start. according to the destructions I need to remove the stop switch pin from the Amphenol plug using a pin removing tool. Of course I dont have that tool so what can I use to substitute? a ice pick? screwdriver? Also I need a BMCA Insert tool to install the stop switch terminal pin back into the Amphenol plug. Once again I dont have that tool so can I substitute with a common tool. Or should I go purchase these tools? Any advice on this repair would be greatly appricated.
If I dont get this problem fixed before saturday morning is it safe just to choke out the motor to shut it off? I used to do that with a old snowmoblie.
Thanks
Scott
