I made a post a few weeks ago about really needing to get out and fish because it's been WAY too long. There have been a number of factors leading to the situation but the main one was that I didn't have a boat anymore. Well I took care of that problem this afternoon. I've been watching craigslist for a while and every time a suitable boat became available I'd call and it was already gone. That streak ended today. There was an ad there this morning and it was exactly what I've been looking for. An email was sent and about a half hour later my cell rang and it was the seller. I got home about an hour ago and it's now mine!

It's a decent twelve footer that should do the job nicely and I got it for a buck and a half! That leaves me with some funds to rig it as I see fit. The plan is to install some decking, carpeting, a hatch or two, and a couple pedestal seats. Should work out well and I can get back on the water.

Pictures to follow. I'll take some before shots as she is now and follow up with pictures of the mods as I do them.

It's going to be good to be back on the water!

Congrats on the new boat. Things happen for a reason! Doesn't always make sense at the time but in due time it all makes sense.

Sounds like a tin boat, if so check out this site John:

tinboats.net

Those guys are crazy over mods on tinboats and are full of good advice and suggestions. If you are decking yours out it might help.

Yep, it's a Montgomery Wards "Sea King". I've got a nice Evinrude 6 in the garage that should work fine on it. But I'll probably see if I can find a decent electric to hang on it too.

IBT, thanks for that site. I'll have to check it out.

I just started demo this morning on a pretty big remodel job for a customer. I've got drywall to hang and finish as well as some repair on a couple other walls. Then about 400 square feet of hardwood flooring to install as well as a new doorwall. So I've got some work to do before I can get into the boat but it'll give me some time to think about what I want to do. Shouldn't be more than a couple weeks though and that job should be just about done.
