Getting ready to order one of the two.Want to go with the longest lengths i can fit. Do i need double the clearance for the length of the track,in order to fit the black step pads in,or are the step pads flexible?

It took me a minute but i got it. The pad are not very flexible they have to be rigid in order to stay in there. I bought a set for mine, and found it a pain in the butt to take all of the holders on and off all the time so i just leave them on

Pursuit (formerly Traxtech) used to be able to anodize longer sections of track than Bert's. I don't know if that's still the case. It's nice to have flexibility placing rod holders and riggers, but loading up long sections of track will make it tougher to get in and out of the boat.

I have Traxtech on my boat and I do not think the step inserts are flexible. I believe they are rigid. If you remove the stop from either end of the track, the step insert slides right in. You would want to plan for that. You could also use shorter pieces of step as it comes in different lengths.
