The power trim on my 120 IO stopped working even though the hydraulic pump runs. The stern unit will move, but only if I open the manual valve on the pump. Even then it seems to struggle to move the stern to the down position(very slowly). Oil level in the pump is good. I may be able to use it this way, but I guess the question is why would it stop working, and why in manual mode does it go down so slow? Any thoughts appreciated.

The wires on hydraulics may be spliced. The same thing happend on my boat last summer and i had to take the hole lower unit off to replace it. Lets just say i got good at putting the lower unit on and off (if anyone has ever taken a lower unit and had to put the drive shaft in you know what i mean). Its not easy.

I am wondering where is the manual valve located you are moving. It might be a problem with the reverse lock valve. What year is this btw..
I will look into it if you have some info to share.

Thanks for the response guys. Haven't been on line for a while. I did take the boat out the other day and was able to use it, though it did take a while to get the lower unit down. The boat is a 1983 Imperial. The manual valve is a tee-shaped handle on the side of the pump. Thanks again.
