Anyone been out to Halls, or any other lakes in the Isabella County area yet? I am sure it's a little early, but I want to get on some panfish this spring... most likely in Halls because it's only about a 20 min drive. I will be fishing out of a boat so I can go anywhere on the lake, what are some good spring spots on that lake for gills/crappie/perch? Also, what are some good presentations for the big guys in 5-10 fow early spring? Jigs w/ wax worms?
Another question(thought I might as well ask both here, rather than making another thread): I live in the Mt Pleasant area and want to get on some eyes too, where is my best bet for the area for spring-time eyes? I know of a launch on titabawasee headed to saginaw, see some boats there once in a while, would this be my best and closest option once walleye are back in season? Thanks a lot! :)

I went to CMU and had my boat there my senior year. I fished Coldwater Lake alot during the spring and summer. It's nortwest of campus. I never really targeted them but there were lots of Crappie and bluegills. Even caught a few walleye but I mainly fished for bass.
There's also some decent fishing on Stevenson Lake. North of Mt. P.
There is also a park West of town on M-20 where you can catch some nice fish from shore. It's part of the Chip river but I forgot the name of the park.

Are you referring to Deerfield Park? Also, isn't there an entrance fee for Coldwater's launch?

Yea Deerfield Park is the name. But I read you have a boat. I'd go with Coldwater. If you launch at the park there is a fee. I don't think they start charging until the park opens. Not sure on that though. There is also a DNR launch on the North end of the lake. It's not very good and doesn't have a dock. But it's free if you don't mind getting your feet wet.
Stevenson lake has a nice launch but I've only fished there twice.

Just looked at a map. It was Littlefield lake not stevenson lake I fished twice. They are right next to each other. Both are nice lakes.
