I made a few of these a couple years ago and it changed my life (well my fishing life anyway). Now it's my go to lure. It's nothing more than a homemade in-line spinner with a banjo minnow on the hook, but man fish just love this thing. The spinner blade vibrates and makes the minnow come to life. If you have an old banjo minnow layin around give it a try.

Thanks for the tip, it looks like a great lure. I think anything with a spinnerblade attached is money.

Haha. Great minds must think alike. lol

I had been wondering what to do with my banjo minnows. So I hooked them just like you on a couple buzz baits. I hook up with the bass like over 80% of the time now. Plus, I've never had a bass smack it, and not get it. The other 20% I still say is me. I've had people watch me do it, and then look at me like I'm retarded. lol When I miss I get sad. lol

I've never tried them with a buzz bait, will have to try that. I go to the lansing fishing and boat show every year and they sell banjo minnows there for like $3 for 10, so I pick up 20 or so every year. I have a friend that wont use anything but these lures. He will call me before he goes fishing and have me make him up a couple, he swears by 'em.

I think a spinnerbait tipped with a live minnow could be really good as well.

Yeah I bet it would too. But the floppyness of the banjo kicks and flops with the vibration of the spinner blade, and the live minnow would have to actually be swimming/kicking to have the same effect. If you ever have the time you should try this, its so life like the way the banjo minnow looks when reeling this lure.

Does anyone know if this one is big enough to entice a musky?

Looks like it, although I'm no expert. Maybe for a musky it would be best to make it longer by attaching a larger rubber minnow rather than making the body of the spinner longer (or both!).

How many of the hooks do you put the banjo minnow through? Is there any special technique?

I use double hooks now, but for a long time I just used a single hook on the end of the spinner and that worked just fine.
