Hey everyone,
Does anyone have some good advice for a good deer/turkey combo semi auto 12 gauage that I can find for around $500.
Thanks!

Remington 870....they have different combos available to suit many needs. The Mossberg 500/835 has many combos as well. I prefer the 870, but the Mossberg will get it done as well.

Whoops, I didn't see semi auto, sorry. Maybe the Mossberg 935 has a combo. I have not seen combos with the Remington 11-87, however there are numerous barrel options so one can add a deer barrel in the future. Hard to find a good auto by itself for $500, let alone a combo though. Look at some of the Turkish imports...maybe a Stoeger, imported by Benelli?

For deer and turkey a semi auto is an expensive luxury IMHO. I vote for the 870 express combo with some $ left over for a scope. For $500 you are maybe going to find a used auto, get a brand new 870 and own it forever.

I agree!! Hard to beat the 870...it just goes bang everytime it needs to! I like auto's but would only invest in one if I did a lot of duck and goose hunting.

Get an 870, ignore the auto, and be happy is my opinion
You could even get a rifle barrel for it for deer....
the 870's are unbreakable and inexpensive!

I'm not a big fan of combos. But if your set on one the 870 seems logical. I did see some semi-auto shoties at bud's gun shop (online) that maybe in your price range. However the brands are not well known. Okay, I just went on the site in the middle of typing this. They (bud's) has an H&R semi-auto combo with a 28" barrel and a 24" rifled barrel with open sights for $456 delivered. It had a good review also. Let me know what you think.

I absolutely love my 11-87, I also can't complain about my 870. I love my 11-87 because it is so versitile. I can shoot a 2 3/4 for pheasants, then throw 3 1/2 in for turkey or geese. I have yet to look into a slug barrel for this gun because i use my 870 20 gauge for deer. But I would imagine it would be a sweet set up...

got my 870 magnum combo for well under 500 about 5 years ago from Dunhams. got it on sale as I recall for just under 400. came with a wingmaster barrell (26inch IIRC) with threaded for Remchoke compatible tubes and a rifled barrel with rifle sights (think it is 24inch). Works for what I need it to do.
ETA: damn I didnt read "semi auto" either, sorry. 870's do take a beating and keep on going.

I should have been more clear, I have the slug barrel for my 870 too and it does a fine job, but I have not looked into one for my 11-87....

You could pick up a used 1100 easily for that price and maybe even an 11-87. Unless you like the recoil from a pump shotgun I would stay with the semi-auto. It does everything a pump does and more except beat you up. I have an 1100 from 1970 that has maybe 10,000 rounds and probably more through it and never a single problem.

Mossberg 930 semi. . . Dick's and MC Sports has the combo for around $450-$500 in black synthetic. I have one and it cycles everything, not one misstep so far in over 1000 rounds, not much for some, but for a hunting shotgun and occasional clays, it will hold up great. It comes with two stocks as well and a shim kit to adjust fit.
Do a search on the Mossberg 930 and you'll find loads of information. . . .I shoot my Mossbergs better than my B guns and they function just as well.
