Just picked up a belly boat and kick fins over the weekend. My two friends used to fish a lot out of them years back; and had good things to say. I always wanted to try it, well finally broke down and bought.
Just wondering what your experience has been fishing with them. Can anyone share input on how theyve done, do's and dont's fishing in them, etc.
I intend to target bass, panfish, maybe pike and walleye.
Thanks,
paragon

This is the only way I fish. I get out just about every weekend through the summer. You will love it, and you can fish alot of places that get very little preasure. Glad you joined the float tube club. I have been doing it for years so let me know if you have any questions.

They are a lot of fun and, like paragon said, allow you access to unpressured lakes. The only downfall is being so close to the surface. Can make it a little tough to get long casts in, so consider a longer rod than normal. Also, if you can attach one to the tube, bring a net for those toothy critters. They always freak me out a bit when I pull then in and they are so close to the jewels.
You should have a blast with it though, hope you have a great season!

Thats funny you say that Hunter. I was just having the same conversation with my buddy who inspired me to buy a bellyboat. We had hypothesized hooking into a big pike, and having that thing torpedo between the legs...with a big daredevil hanging from its jaw. I saw I was going to wear my defensemans hockey cup over the jewels when I go out...
I had also hypothesized if I hooked something big, and I wasnt too far from shore, I'd just kick paddle to shore to land it.

You ought to try it with a 20lb salmon, with a 6" Long A Bomber hanging out of his mouth, swimming around the nads. Almost as important, swimming around the tube. That's my version of extreme fishing. Fishing off the Ludington St Park in one of those was a ball! Good Luck and watch for snapping turtles.:lol:Capnhook
been useing one for over 10 years. your catch% will improve big time!!.
I use aspreader for the pike(mainly what I target)along with some pliers,on retractable mini reels (used for trout fishing)I also picked up a rod holder a while back, very handy . i like a shorter rod (6') easier to get weeds off or untangle line . did i mention its like fishing from a lazyboy
