anyone going to give Maumee R a try tomorrow/Saturday?
i need to do some fishing for the very stressed :SHOCKED:week at work, not sure if the 1.5 hr trip will make it worse if I don't see any hookups.
saw rain today, and sunny morning for sat, but 16mph wind (is that normal)?

I'll probably be there sometime tomorrow, but the wind is going to make it a pain to cast from the South side of the river. According to the river level forecasts we can expect to see a 2ft rise by tomorrow afternoon, should be pretty entertaining watching people come back from Bluegrass.

sounds good. only if i can figure out this gusting wind. last time we out there, w/ 3/4 oz sinker we can't keep the hook going down because of the wind.

I'll let you know if I go down there tomorrow, but heard it'll rain on Sunday around noon. and water level might be up a bit. even sat will up to near 682'.

Where I fish (and you're all invited to join me if you wish) water level isn't a huge issue most days.

Just as soon as the water does this me and my buds take a row boat over to the island. Park at the zap lure guy. Allways do good. Nice to have the island to ourselves. Don't tell anyone.:shhh:

my buddy got 1, i got a couple snags. that's it. :evilsmile but people around us (knows what they doing), got limits or at least a couple. use a long leader, like 40" to 5ft is the key.
VERY light crowds compare to other 2 weekends, that's a good thing.
water level went up when we were going home at 2pm, up over 14" from when we got there at 8am.

I went back today and only managed one legal keeper and one snagged throwback:fish:. Was fishing with MS member Greenhead and he caught a nice limit of jacks, a big flathead and snagged a few throwback eyes and suckers.
On a side not has anyone here ever caught a blind walleye? The eye I caught today had tiny pin head sized dots for pupils. I can't imagine it could see very well, but it was decent sized and in good shape so it was obviously getting by ok.

Lots of them...especially down there. I caught one down there missing an eye and the other eye had a hook in it. How do let that unlucky fish go?:evilsmile Seems cruel to let it go. If yer' gunna' let a fish go like that you might as well get the cheek meat.:evilsmile:lol:

now that takes skill catching a blind fish ecspecially in the maumee.
i was on the island saterday with my dad and caught 2 and lost at least 10:mad: and my dad came out with his limit and saw 4 more limits come out with the next 4 guys up river. long leaders and orange or pink heads with clear chartruse tails

an other side note, it's "Capnhook" that's holding that 5.85 lb eye at Maumee Tackle river update. http://www.maumeetackle.net/riverupdate.html.
I'll just go back there when the run's on, then i'll just snag the fish at the mouth, and call it a day.
don't give me wrong, there are fish at the water, lots of people getting limits, or catching it, but for non-local & newbie like me, it'll take a couple seasons to read the water & location right.
