Hey guys,

I was wondering if there was any place good around the detroit area to go and catch some suckers? I was thinking about taking my wife out sometime next week, but the weather looks bad for taking the boat out. I thought maybe the clinton, but wasn't sure.

What about going up to the rifle river? I've always wanted to try it, and I may just do it next week since I have the entire week off. If any of you have tips, or advice, please let me know! Is it too late for suckers?

Thanks,

MDH

Rifle river is great this time of year but there are a BUNCH of people. Can get crazy. The Lower Huron is good. They are starting there. I caught one last saturday. Ya I know only one but when they get going you can catch a bunch.

if you are from Farmington, it might be same distance go down to Huron instead of coming over to Clinton. Flat Rock's been running like nuts with suckers, i heard.

Where should I fish down on the Huron. I went to some park down off of telegraph where they were catching steelhead. There was a waterfall and a long stretch above it to fish. Are there areas to fish below that spot? I may just have to head down there next week.

Thanks guys,

that park at Telegraph is the place. below the bridge over the river, that section is rock based, i think suckers dig that type of water bed.

I hear you on the 10 feet rule! I always follow that rule, unless I'm on the Maumee... a little tight down there.

Worms or sponge guys? I just need to catch something here soon! Maybe I'll see some of you down there next week.

Thanks guys,

MDH

You can also try below the dam on Ford lake off bridge road or textile road. Bit of a walk unless they have opened the park on bridge road. Or at Rawsonville road where the river dumps into Bellville lake.BUNCH less people. Another good place is Hudson Mills metropark off North Territorial road. Plenty of room there too. Out of season but a lot of smallies and a few walleye there too.
